Hello Everyone,

We are happy to introduce the newest member of our family: Kaelyn Christine Vander Meulen

STATS:

• BORN: 03.30.2007 at 9:51 PM
• WEIGHT: 6.13 lbs.
• LENGTH: 21 in.
• HAIR COLOR: Blonde/Brown
• EYE COLOR: Blue

THE STORY:

Mara had left Thursday night to spend a weekend in Kenosha, WI with some college friends. That morning her contractions were getting more intense and her friends finally convinced Mara to come down to were our hospital is. I (Doug) meet up with her shortly after they got to outside of the hospital around 5:45pm. We spent the next couple hours walking around the block and in a courtyard at the hospital. At 7:47pm we checked into the hospital as Mara’s contractions were getting more intense. At 9:25pm, Mara got checked for the first time and was 8 cm dilated. Our midwife arrived around 9:45pm and Mara had progressed to 10 cm. She started to push at this point and after two pushes her water broke. With the third push, Kaelyn came out, it was awesome, Mara did a great job, no medication, no interventions, she was an All Star.
